Lisnin Listening Party Bot
Listening Party Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Lisnin Listening Party Bot (the “Bot”), a Discord application operated by Lisnin Music Inc. (“Lisnin”, “we”, “us”), a federal corporation under the laws of Canada, based in Milton, Ontario, Canada. By adding the Bot to a Discord server or using any of its features, you agree to these Terms and to our Listening Party Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not add or use the Bot. The Bot is separate from the Lisnin platform, which is covered by our general Terms of Service.
1. Eligibility
You must meet Discord's minimum age requirement and follow the Discord Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Prize draws will be open only to people who meet the eligibility rules in the official prize rules (see “Points, tokens and the prize draw”). If you add the Bot to a server, you confirm that you have permission to manage that server and that you are authorized to accept these Terms on behalf of the server.
2. What the Bot does
The Bot lets Discord communities host listening parties for music shared through the Lisnin network, including announcing sessions, running listening party activities and recording participation so that communities and artists can see engagement. Features may change, be added or be removed at any time.
3. Adding the Bot and its permissions
When you add the Bot through Discord's authorization screen, you grant it the permissions shown on that screen and allow us to receive the account and server information described in our Listening Party Privacy Policy, including your email address. Discord shows the exact permissions when you authorize. [engineering to confirm: exact permission list / integer and OAuth scopes, and add a plain-language summary here]
You can remove the Bot from your server at any time (see “Removing the Bot and deleting your server's data”).
4. Community admin obligations
If you add the Bot to a server, you agree to:
- let your members know that the Bot is active in your server, for example in a rules or announcements channel, and point them to our Listening Party Privacy Policy (the Bot reads the Spotify listening activity that members share in their Discord status, and we may connect to members' Spotify accounts, with their permission, to confirm genuine listening and prevent abuse);
- review each release before accepting it for your community, and accept only content you are comfortable sharing there;
- keep your server in line with Discord's rules and applicable law, and not use the Bot to target children or to collect members' personal information for your own purposes;
- give accurate details when you sign up and tell us if you stop being authorized to manage the server;
- not pressure members to join or to share their activity, and respect a member's choice to leave.
We may limit, suspend or remove the Bot from any server that does not meet these obligations.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Bot to break any law or Discord's rules;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer or gain unauthorized access to the Bot or our systems;
- use the Bot to share content you do not have the rights to share, or content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing or sexually explicit involving minors;
- manipulate listening party activity or participation data, including through fake accounts, automation or incentivized fake engagement.
We may limit, suspend or remove the Bot from any server that violates these Terms, and may void points earned through abuse.
6. Points, tokens and the prize draw
Members earn points for listening to releases that a community has accepted, as described on the Listening Party pages. Points are a tally used for ranking and for entries in the monthly prize draw; they have no cash value, cannot be sold or transferred, and may be adjusted or removed if we find abuse, errors or fake engagement. There are limits on the points that can be earned by streaming and engaging with a release. We may change how points work. [engineering to confirm: whether the Bot issues any tokens or credits other than points, and how they are stored]
7. Music and content
Music and other content presented through the Bot belongs to the artists and rights holders who provide it. Nothing in these Terms gives you ownership of that content or permission to copy, download or redistribute it outside the Bot's intended use.
8. Communications
We will use the email address of server admins and registered members to send service messages, such as setup confirmation, outage notices, required updates and changes to these Terms or the Privacy Policy. After you add the Bot or register, you can choose to also receive news and offers from Lisnin by ticking an optional checkbox. We only send promotional emails if you opt in, and every promotional email includes a way to unsubscribe.
9. Removing the Bot and deleting your server's data
Remove the Bot. A server admin can remove the Bot at any time in Discord: Server Settings, Integrations, find Lisnin, then Remove (or kick the Bot). Sharing and point earning then stop for your server. [engineering to confirm: whether a self-serve removal and data deletion flow exists beyond removing the Bot in Discord]
Ask for deletion. To have your server's data and admin information deleted, email hello@lisnin.io from the address you signed up with, with your server ID or name and the words “Delete server data”. We delete or anonymize it within 90 days of the Bot's removal or your request, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. Members can also ask for their own data to be deleted (see the Privacy Policy).
10. Availability and changes
The Bot is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep it running but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may update, suspend or discontinue the Bot or any feature, and we will try to give notice by email or in Discord for significant changes.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lisnin is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, community activity or revenue, arising from your use of the Bot. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Bot is limited to the amount you paid us for the Bot in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $100 if you paid nothing.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Bot at any time by removing it from your server. We may end your access if you breach these Terms. Provisions on music and content, liability and governing law continue after termination.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of Ontario.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and notify server admins by email. Continued use of the Bot after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
